What have we done?
1. Safety of Life and Property
at Sea (SOLAS)
Auxiliarists
of the 1001st Squadron have responded to emergency calls & conducted actual rescue operations on the ill-fated M/V Our
Lady of Good Voyage and M/V Asia Hong Kong through its floating assets safely to Macabalan pier.
2. Marine Environment Protection
The 1001st
Squadron has an on-going rehabilitation of a mangrove area of about 70 hectares at Taytay, El Salvador, Misamis Oriental.
As of March 2004, it has planted an estimated 500,000 propagules or about 65% of the total plantable area. Due to this efforts,
1001st Squadron received the Best Squadron Award for the year 2001. It has also adopted a marine sanctuary over Agutayan reef
in Jasa-an and Burias island in El Salvador, all of Misamis Oriental. Coastal clean-up in several occasions were also being
made along the coastal barangays Bulua, Macabalan, Kauswagan, Bayabas & Bonbon all of Cagayan de Oro City and in the coastal
barangay of Barra and Poblacion of Opol, Misamis Oriental. In conjunction with clean-up activities, it has also conducted
seminar on Solid Waste Disposal along these areas.
3. Promote Safety in Vessel's
Operation
Auxiliarists
of the 1001st Squadron is the only squadron in the country, so far, that conducts regular boarding inspection on vessels before
it departs the port of Cagayan de Oro City to ensure safety.
4. Aids to Navigation
The 1001st
Squadron was instrumental in the installation of Solar panel lighthouses in Agutayan reef, Jasa-an, Misamis Oriental and in
Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental. In coordination with Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Gingoog City division, it maintain &
develops lighthouses in Medina & Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.
5. Seas Scouts division of
the 1001st Squadron has promoted and sustained various training programs such as SOLAS and other leadership training.
6. Humanitarian Services
The Squadron
has also conducted medical, dental and surgical services in barangays Taytay and Molugan of El Salvador, Misamis Oriental.
During the times of calamities, the squadron has responded to basic needs of the residents of Camiguin province being hit
by flashfloods. We have donated clothing and building materials to the victims through solicitation among members and concern
citizens.
